Paula Abdul has still got it, over 30 years after she first burst onto the music scene

Paula Abdul in concertWatching Paula Abdul perform her number one song “Straight Up” on ‘The Late Late Show with James Corden’, was pure delight. At 56, Paula who has no children, has lost none of the dance moves and singing talent that turned her into a star all these years ago. Many among the younger generation may only know her for her role as a judge on talent shows, including Pop Idol, but there was a time when she seemed unstoppable as a singer/dancer. Thankfully, her music fans can cheer up, because she is back and going on tour.

The tour is being billed as her first solo tour in over 25 years. It is scheduled to begin on October 3rd, 2018 for seven weeks, during which she will perform in 26 cities across the US. If you are a Paula Abdul fan and want to see her in action, I suggest you head to her website where more details are given on the exact dates and cities in which she will perform. Her first show is in Morristown, New Jersey.

Paula gave a glimpse into her private life in an interview she gave in 2014. Just like many women raised to believe that motherhood is inevitable, she too thought it was going to be part of her path at some stage. That it hasn’t happened does not seem to bother her, as she laughed when she said: “Honestly I thought by now I would have three kids who had graduated college for sure; maybe even be a grandma”. Life always has a way of humbling us, and those who can see through all the noise around them, eventually realise that, we are all individuals, with unique and different paths. Paula seems to have come to that realisation.

Going back to her appearance on ‘The Late Late Show with James Corden’, she could not have picked a better show to relaunch her career, particularly if she wants to appeal to a younger audience. The video of her performance has already been viewed over 5 million times on the show’s facebook page and over 155 thousand times on youtube, at the last count. In the age of social media, particularly with James Corden’s videos frequently going viral, that was definitely a smart move. And it helps that she herself still looks great. Image matters, whether we like it or not, particularly if you are a performer.
