Dann’s book will without doubt be a source of inspiration for anyone still pondering whether or not to have children or those who have already made up their mind but are struggling with society’s reaction. Equally, the book will also be a source of inspiration for those who are childless by circumstance and are struggling to come to terms with it. Dann talks candidly about the fact that he never wanted children and had a vasectomy at the age of 23 to ensure it never happens. His ability to convey such a delicate message in a clear and easy read is both refreshing and takes the negative stigma out of not having children. He does not shy away from discussing any of the issues related to being childless/childfree, including discrimination in the workplace, the fact that most policies favour those with children and the usual stigma attached to not having children such as being seen as selfish and the legacy issue to name but these few. I enjoyed reading Dann’s book and recommend it wholeheartedly.
