Doctors halt the menopause (1 reply and 1 comment)
I have to admit that I am not at all fond of the idea of women having babies this late in life. 60s is a time when people should be living their best lives, not looking after babies. But of course, that's my personal opinion and people are free to make their own choices.
I agree with you, Nina, that's the most sensible thing to do but who knows how many others will jump at the idea.

There was a piece of news in this week's paper about this medical breakthrough. What is about? A procedure which removes a piece of one of the ovaries and is then frozen at -150C. It will then be held in an ice bank until the women reach the menopause when it will be thawed and transplanted back into them, to kick start their natural hormones - delaying the menopause for five, 10 or 20 years. The procedure in itself is no news as it is already used for women who had a hysterectomy or going through chemo. But who can deny that in the future, this very same technique would allow women to have babies in their sixties. Any thoughts?
